V Conferencia do IESE – Call for papers

Por ocasião do seu 10º aniversário, o IESE anuncia a realização da sua V Conferência académica internacional, subordinada ao tema “Desafios da investigação social e económica em tempos de crise” a ter lugar em Maputo, Moçambique, entre 19 e 21 de Setembro de 2017.
A conferência inaugural do IESE, realizada a 19 de Setembro de 2007, debruçou-se sobre os desafios da investigação social e económica em Moçambique, do ponto de vista tanto dos desafios teóricos, paradigmáticos e metodológicos para estudar, compreender e responder às dinâmicas e tendências de transformação política, económica e social, como dos desafios da inserção da investigação e do seu papel num contexto político que se adivinhava crescentemente hostil e repressivo.
Volvidos dez anos, o mundo assiste a uma crise multidimensional e internacional. Embora global, esta crise tem manifestações e particularidades regionais e nacionais.
O que nos ensina a nossa investigação? Onde estamos, que questões nos perturbam, o que não conseguimos entender e explicar nem mudar, o que não sabemos? Que contributos temos realizado tanto para as ciências sociais e o conhecimento, como para os debates políticos, económicos e sociais e as lutas sociais? Que desafios temos pela frente, no que diz respeito tanto ao desenvolvimento das ciências sociais como da sua inserção política? Identificar, debater e responder a questões como estas são objectivos desta conferência. (call for papers)

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, IESE is announcing that its 5th international academic conference, on the theme “Challenges of social and economic research in times of crisis” will be held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 19 to 21 September 2017.

The inaugural conference of IESE, held on 19 September 2007, discussed the challenges of social and economic research in Mozambique, from the point of view of the theoretical, paradigmatic and methodological challenges to study, understand and respond to the dynamics and trends of political, economic and social transformation, and of the challenges of the insertion of research and its role in a political context forecast to become increasingly hostile and repressive.

Ten years later, the world is witnessing a multi-dimensional and international crisis. Although the crisis is global, it has regional and national expressions and specificities.

What does our research teach us? Where we are, what questions disturb us, what are we unable to understand and explain, or to change, and what do we not know? What contributions have we made, both to the social sciences and to knowledge, and to political, economic and social debates and to social struggles?  What challenges are facing us, with regard both to the development of the social sciences and to their political insertion? Identifying, debating and responding to questions such as these are the objectives of this conference. (call for papers)
